As a derivative of the mid-1980s Business Basic platform, ProvideX is a computer language that runs on several operating systems and helps provide the basis for an interface to a number of essential applications and components. Based on the principles of BASIC (from which Business Basic is derived), ProvideX continues to adapt over the years, expanding the scope of its functionality to meet the innovations that have occurred since the advent of the personal computer.

Among the more recent applications are innovations such as client-server software and systems, a wide range of web services, especially e-commerce applications, and graphical user interfaces. More recently, ProvideX has started to be useful in building object-oriented programming strategies and capabilities.
ProvideX is available on all major operating systems, including Windows, Mac, Unix and Linux. While ProvideX’s applications have greatly expanded since the original intention for the language, it has continued to serve those core applications and remain current through all the technological innovations that have emerged thus far.
