From vacationing families to corporate executives, virtually everyone reaps the rewards of this industry, directly or indirectly. Airlines, railroads, cruise lines and car rental agencies ensure that most people can explore just about anywhere in the world or quickly visit a sick loved one who lives hundreds of miles away. Hotels and resorts provide accommodations for transient guests who feel right at home, even when traveling abroad. Restaurants cater to hungry customers at virtually any price point and variety of cuisines to satisfy almost any palate.

Each of the service industry companies and providers generally strive to offer impeccable customer service. For example, retail stores, airlines, restaurants and hotels rely on their ability to provide exceptional service to gain repeat customers. Medical professionals are expected to deliver a high standard of care while treating patients with respect and dignity in a time of vulnerability. Police officers are sworn to serve and protect others. Indeed, essentially all areas of the service sector are geared towards providing a better lifestyle in a variety of ways.
