Turbo Seal is a waterproofing material made from polymer rubber and adhesive compounds, containing 25% post-consumer recycled content. It has self-healing ability, durability, and is non-toxic. It is used in various applications, including roofing and concrete grouting, and is ideal for blind side waterproofing. It does not fully cure, making reapplication easier and reducing the risk of cracking or loss of integrity.

Turbo Seal is a waterproofing material consisting of a polymer rubber with the addition of adhesive compounds. It is created from approximately 25% post-consumer recycled content and its main distinguishing quality is that it does not cure or dry completely. Developed at Seoul National University of Technology, the material has since been classified as a technological breakthrough. Turbo Seal is used in a wide range of waterproofing applications, such as car parks, roofing and concrete grouting.

Some features of Turbo Seal include self-healing ability, adhesion, durability, and lack of toxicity. Since the compound does not fully cure, it remains pliable and pliable after application, allowing it to withstand external stresses and vibrations. This causes it to reseal any potential punctures or tears in the material, giving it the trademark self-healing ability. The material is able to withstand large changes in hydrostatic pressure and performs equally well underwater.

Unlike cured waterproofing compounds, Turbo Seal holds together in one layer and one integrated component, eliminating the need for layering processes and reducing the likelihood of cracking or loss of integrity. Reapplying becomes a much easier process because more material can be added to the original. This not only saves time and money, but also reduces the risk of application errors, especially when compared to more traditional waterproofing methods that involve complex layering processes.

Turbo Seal is also non-toxic, chemically stable and adhesive to a variety of other materials. The material is free from harmful solvents, contains no volatile organic compounds (VOCs), is non-flammable and maintains chemical integrity. It also maintains resistance to frost at low temperatures and loss of shape at high temperatures.

There are several types of Turbo Seals that are specialized for certain waterproofing processes. One mix is ideal for waterproofing large-scale structures, and different mixes will be better for drilling and grouting. Repairing leaks will also require a slightly different make-up of the material, as it will need to permeate cracks and punctures. Common applications of these various compounds include roofing, concrete rebar, and parking lot waterproofing both above and below ground.

Blind side waterproofing has also been successful with Turbo Seal because it remains adhesive and resists tearing for extended periods of time. During commercial excavation, the material eventually reduces the total land area excavated. Not only is preventing over-digging environmentally friendly, Turbo-Seal’s lack of toxicity also leaves a much smaller environmental impact than other waterproofing methods.
