Chopin only grew a sideburn on the right side of his face to show his right profile. He was a child prodigy and had a successful career as a composer, performer and piano teacher. He had a relationship with George Sand and toured the British Isles before his death. The Warsaw Chopin Society organizes an International Chopin Piano Competition every five years.
The Polish composer, Frédéric Chopin, only grew a sideburn on the right side of his face. Chopin’s reason for growing only the right sideburn was because it only showed the audience the right profile of him. Born to a middle-class family in Zelazowa Wola, Poland in 1810, Chopin was considered a child prodigy and published his first composition at the age of seven. His father’s work as tutor to aristocratic families in Warsaw exposed the young Chopin to high society, which would later be part of his career as a composer, performer and piano teacher.
