Contrary to popular belief, Millennials read more than older adults. A 2014 Pew Research Center survey found that 43% of Millennials read books every day and 88% have read at least one book in the past year. Millennials are those born between the early 1980s and early 2000s, also known as Generation Y.

Their lives may be more tech-centric and they may see the world differently than previous generations, but that doesn’t mean so-called Millennials aren’t reading. Despite often being derided as anti-intellectual and self-obsessed, as a demographic, Millennials actually read more than older adults, according to a 2014 Pew Research Center survey of more than 6,000 Americans. The study found that 43% of millennials read books every day, a similar rate to older adults. Overall, 88% of millennials said they have read at least one book in the past year, compared to 79% of older respondents.

Putting generations in their place:

The term “Millennial Generation” describes the generation of people born between the early 1980s and early 2000s.
The Millennial Generation is also known as Generation Y, which followed Generation X – those people born between the early 1960s and 1980s.
Millennials have also been called the “Peter Pan” or “Boomerang” Generation, due to the propensity of some to move back in with their parents, and the tendency to delay typical rites of passage such as getting married or pursuing a career.
