Dan Brown was born in New Hampshire in 1964 and grew up in a home with a strong artistic influence. He pursued a career in music before becoming an English teacher and later a full-time writer. Despite early struggles, he achieved massive success with The Da Vinci Code and has continued to write and produce music. He is currently working on a new novel called The Solomon Key.

Dan Brown was born on June 22, 1964 in New Hampshire, USA. The eldest of three children, Brown grew up in a home where the arts had a strong presence: his mother was a professional musician and his father wrote textbooks while teaching high school math. This early influence proved vital to Brown’s future, as he ended up pursuing a career in music and releasing two albums, one for adults and one for children. While in Los Angeles pursuing a career as a songwriter, Dan Brown met and married Blythe Newlon, the director director of the National Academy of Songwriters.

Dan Brown continued producing music and later became an English teacher to support his family. It wasn’t until 1994 that Brown began writing and publishing. In fact, his first books to his credit were co-authored with his wife and were all humorous books, such as 187 Men to Avoid: A Guide for the Romantically Frustrated Woman and The Bald Book.

With the publication of Digital Fortress in 1998, Dan Brown became a full-time writer. Success, however, was still far away. His first four novels, including Angels & Demons, sold just over 10,000 copies, despite heavy promotion by his wife. Dan Brown has appeared on talk shows, has given hundreds of interviews, and has become extremely active in the media. While subsequent books did better, it wasn’t until 2003 that Dan Brown struck gold. The Da Vinci Code made the New York Times Best Seller list during the first week of its release and has gone on to sell over 60 million copies worldwide.

Dan Brown has never forgotten his love of music. When the film version of The Da Vinci Code came out, he was cited as a producer of a song for the film’s soundtrack. Dan Brown has also donated over $2 million to Phillips Exeter Academy, his alma’s subject, in honor of his father, who taught at the school until he retired in 1968.

Dan Brown is currently at work on a novel called The Solomon Key, to be published in 2007. The book will follow The Da Vinci Code character Robert Langdon in his quest to relate Freemasonry to the Founding Fathers of the United States .
