Kurt Cobain was an outspoken critic of the mainstream music industry, both before and after his success with Nirvana. He believed that the major record labels promoted whatever they believed would sell and placed little importance on the quality of the music. This belief, combined with Nirvana’s immense mainstream success, is believed by many to be the primary factor in Cobain’s suicide. In his suicide note, Cobain stated that he no longer liked writing or playing music, and hadn’t liked him for a long time.
Some believe that Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain, even though he was in a heroin rehab facility at the time. Following Cobain’s death, a memorial service was held at Seattle Center that attracted several thousand mourners.
