Michael Moore is an American documentary filmmaker and author known for his political views. He started as a publisher of Mother Jones Magazine and directed films such as Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11. Since 1989, Michael Moore has directed numerous films, starting with Roger & Me, which is a scathing critique of the phenomenon of globalization. His most famous films, however, are the 2002 documentary Bowling for Columbine, which deals with the Columbine school massacre and the gun control issue in the United States, and Fahrenheit 9/11, which deals with President George W Bush to the 9/11 attacks and his ties to Osama Bin Laden. The film is the highest-grossing documentary of all time, with over $200 million United States Dollars (USD) in worldwide revenue.

Michael Moore also hosted several short-lived television shows, including TV Nation, which aired first on NBC, and then on Fox, and was a controversial news show, and The Awful Truth, which parodied corporations and public officials which aired on Channel 4 in the UK and on the Bravo Network in the US.

Michael Moore has also achieved great success as an author. His books usually also deal with criticisms of American politicians and their policies. His most popular book, Dude, Where’s My Country?, released in 2003, explored the Bush family’s ties to Saudi royalty and the oil industry.

In America and around the world, Michael Moore is loved and reviled. He has been listed as “America’s enemy” on many lists by right-wing Republicans, but is considered one of the country’s top spokesmen by many progressive liberals.
