Mac users experience more computer anxiety than PC users, likely due to their preference for Macs’ ease of use. However, 40% of Americans suffer from computer anxiety. Despite Mac’s popularity, Dell, HP, Acer, and Toshiba are the top-selling computer brands, and most Mac users are under 35.
A survey of 287 students showed that Mac users have significantly more anxiety about computers than PC users. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Mac users are more wary: Many buy Macs because they’re easier to use than PCs, which gives the user more control over the system. However, computer stress isn’t limited to Mac owners: About 40 percent of Americans suffer from some form of “computer anxiety.”

The demographics of Mac users have changed dramatically since 2006, when it was estimated that nearly half of Mac users were over the age of 55. Today, most Mac users are under the age of 35.
As for gender, Mac users are split 50-50. The same goes for Dell, but 60% of Toshiba, Compaq and Gateway users are female. The only major male-dominated brand is Acer, where only 35% of users are female.
