Witness duties?

[ad_1]

The best man has many important responsibilities, including planning the bachelor party, dressing the groom, holding the wedding ring, giving a speech, and ensuring the groom’s departure clothes are returned. It is an honor to be chosen as a best man.

Being chosen as a best man at the wedding of a friend or relative is an honor. It means being a very special person in the groom’s life, someone who is entrusted with several important responsibilities.

The best man’s first official duty is to plan and host the bachelor party. He is also responsible for purchasing a gift for the bride and groom on behalf of the men in the wedding party and for raising the money set aside for the stag and the gifts.

He is the best man who has to dress the groom and make his way to the church on time. If there’s something the groom needs, it’s his job to get it for him. He arranges and pays for limo or other transportation to and from the wedding and reception. If the groom will arrive by car, the witness is the designated driver. This may even involve driving the happy couple to reception and to the hotel or airport afterward.

Further proving that he is someone to be trusted with important details, the best man is the person who is responsible for holding the bride’s wedding ring and giving it to the groom at an appropriate time. Also, it is his responsibility to escort the bridesmaid down the aisle at the end of the wedding and into the reception hall where they are required to dance a dance together in honor of the bride and groom. Prior to the reception, the best man must stand in the receiving line and pose for photos. Thereafter, it is his job to attend the wedding by signing a certificate and to present the clergy, organist, altar boys, and anyone else who attended the wedding with payments or tips.

The best man, along with the maid of honor, must act as host and hostess for the reception and greet guests on behalf of the bride and groom. Traditionally, the best man is also required to toast the happy couple and give a speech in their honour. If tips are needed for waiters, waitresses, disc jockeys, or anyone else who has provided services, the witness will make sure they are paid at the end of the night.

Once the reception is over, it is up to the best man to ensure the groom has his departure clothes and collect his tuxedo and all its components and ensure it is returned to the rental location in a timely manner. If there is a car to decorate, it is the duty of the best man to get together with the ushers and playfully adorn it while the bride and groom remain oblivious. He can then guide the happy couple to their intended destination.

If there are any gifts or notes that have been left, the best man can keep them for the bride and groom’s return or arrange for them to be left at the couple’s home or at the home of one of their parents.

While being a witness is obviously a pleasant experience, it is certainly not to be taken lightly. Without the best man, the wedding may not go as smoothly as possible. The groom chose someone for the job who he felt was worthy of a title and who he could trust to defend it. As you can see, being a witness is truly an honor.
