Does astrology work?

[ad_1]

Astrology assigns traits to each of the 12 zodiac signs based on planetary positions at birth. Skeptics argue that there is no scientific evidence, but some admit to seeing themselves in their sign’s traits. Astrology goes beyond just the sun sign and requires a full natal chart for accuracy. The accuracy of astrological predictions depends on the interpreter’s knowledge and research. While blind skepticism should be avoided, astrology should not dictate one’s life or judgment of others. It can be an entertaining assessment of personality potential.

Astrology is a popular part of many cultures. The main idea behind it is that planetary positions affect each individual’s life and personality differently, depending on the position of each planet at his or her birth. Astrologically, every planet in the solar system rules at least one of the 12 zodiac signs. Specific traits are associated with each ruling planet and sign. Many people find some truth in astrologers’ predictions, while others argue that astrology simply doesn’t work.

People who hold the opinion that astrological predictions don’t work have a strong point in their favor when they claim that there is no conclusive evidence that they ever “worked.” This is true; no astrologer’s predictions or claims have been conclusively scientifically proven. Yet at the same time, some of these naysayers admit that they see themselves strongly in at least some of the traits associated with their sign. There’s also the argument that there are many phenomena that scientists haven’t yet proven to be true, but maybe one day they will. Humans don’t know every detail of the solar system and have actually only started to explore some of the planets.

Some astrology skeptics may oversimplify it if they don’t understand that it’s more than 12 signs alone. They might say that it makes no sense to believe that all human personalities fit perfectly into the 12 zodiac, or sun, signs. According to astrological foundations, a person is most associated with the sign in which the sun was at his birth. However, unless a natal chart shows where all the other planets were born, the full astrological story of a person’s personality, strengths, and weaknesses is not told. In this way, astrology is much more than just 12 sun signs.

Who interprets the meaning of a person’s birth chart or how current planetary positions affect everyone may or may not have a lot to do with how accurate astrology is. It has been revealed that some newspapers have had columnists who only come up with horoscopes or predictions based on astrological sun signs. If so, there’s almost no chance that these predictions will “work.” However, a person who calls himself an astrologer or an astrologer who has deep knowledge of the subject and does careful research before making horoscope predictions may also not be accurate. Many people have read astrological predictions from reputable astrologers that sometimes seem accurate, but not consistently; it is therefore difficult to analyze it as astrology “works” or “does not work”.

It stands to reason that, in lieu of concrete and consistent evidence, a sensible position to take is not to lead one’s life according to astrology or to judge others based on their astrological sign or birth chart. However, even blind skepticism without understanding and considering astrological accuracy could be considered something to be avoided. If astrology is seen as an entertaining assessment that may or may not give true insight into different personalities and their potential, then it may have a viable place in people’s lives.
