Salmon is a healthy fish due to its high omega-3 fatty acid content. Grilling, broiling, and baking are popular ways to prepare it. Cedar planks, lemon juice, and pesto sauce can add extra flavor. Baking at a lower temperature allows seasonings to blend well.

Salmon is one of the most popular fish eaten around the world. It is also considered one of the healthiest fish to eat due to the high level of omega-3 fatty acids, which are believed to be beneficial in reducing the risk of coronary heart disease. While people can prepare salmon in many ways, three of the most popular ways are grilling, broiling, and baking the fish. Regardless of the method you use to prepare your salmon, it’s important to start with salmon fillets that still have the skin on, and the skin should also be free of scales.

When grilling salmon, one of the ways to add extra flavor to the salmon is to use a cedar plank. The board must be soaked in water overnight. After allowing the grill to heat up, place the cedar plank on the grill grates and allow it to heat up for about five minutes until it starts to smoke. Place the piece of salmon, which you rubbed with a mixture of olive oil, dill, minced garlic, lemon zest, salt, and paper, on the cedar board. The mixture should be made to taste and have enough olive oil so it can be easily rubbed into the salmon. Turn the heat down to the broiler and let the salmon cook until opaque, about 20 to 25 minutes.

Another way to prepare salmon is to bake it in the oven. Salmon should be broiled for 8 to 10 minutes per inch (2.5 cm) or until opaque. You can season the fish with the same rub you use to grill salmon on a cedar plank, or you can marinate the salmon in the juice of one lemon and a splash of white wine for 15 minutes. After the salmon has marinated, cover it with a thick layer of the pesto sauce and then place it in the oven, skin side down, on the broiler. The pesto will form a brown crust when the salmon is done. Remove it from the oven and squeeze the juice of another lemon over the top to serve.

For a delicious alternative to grilling or broiling, you can prepare salmon by baking it in the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius) for about 40 minutes until flaky with a fork. Slowing down the cooking times by cooking really allows any seasonings you use to blend well with the fish. Again, using the rub you’d use for grilling, add some lemon juice and a handful of parsley and basil for a runnier texture for the marinade. Marinate the salmon in the mixture for an hour and then place it in the oven to cook.
