Hazardous materials disposal and handling, safety, emergency response plans, and injury prevention are topics that make up the questions presented in the safety and infection control section of the exam.
Health Promotion and Maintenance The NCLEX-RN questions test a person’s knowledge of promoting preventive measures to patients and implementing health promotion materials in daily use by hospital staff with patients. In the NCLEX-RN Physiological Integrity questions of the exam, students are asked about basic care and comfort, risk reduction potential, physiological adaptation, and pharmacological and parenting therapies. This section of the test requires the subject to answer questions about everything from informing patients about daily hygiene practices to understanding how to care for a patient prior to surgery. The physiological integrity questions also test the applicant’s knowledge of administering the correct dosage of a medication, hemodynamics and monitoring vital signs during an emergency procedure.
The NCLEX-RN Psychosocial Integrity Questions test a person’s knowledge of working with patients and families during times of intense emotion.
