The White House offers self-guided tours on certain days, but reservations must be made months in advance. Special events, such as the Spring Gardens Tour and Easter egg roll, also require tickets. Safety measures prohibit certain items.

Anyone can visit the White House during certain designated visiting hours. Reservations for these self-guided tours must be made months in advance of the intended visit date. Special events are also held each year during which the gardens and the White House itself are open to visitors.
Self-guided tours are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 11:00 in the morning. I am also available on Fridays from 7:30 to 7:30 and on Saturdays from 1:00 in the morning to 24:30 in the afternoon. These times are subject to change without notice. Any United States citizen wishing to visit the White House should contact their congressman to make a reservation. Reservations can be made six months in advance and must be made at least 30 days in advance. A limited number of places are available for each day of the tour. Reservations are free and are made on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are a citizen of a foreign country and would like to visit the White House, please contact your local US embassy.

Visitors can also tour the gardens on the Spring Gardens Tour. Garden tour dates are announced each year. The event is free, but tickets are required. Each ticket will have a timestamp, showing when the tour will take place. They are distributed on a first come, first served basis.

Finally, the White House offers opportunities for school-age children to visit the gardens. Garden tours are offered every Tuesday and Thursday to classes of up to 30 students together with their accompanying adults. Teachers interested in taking their students on a garden tour can visit the White House website to fill out an application.

The dates for the annual Easter egg roll are announced each year. This event is designed for families of children aged 12 and over. It includes games, music and stories along with the traditional egg roll. Tickets for the event are distributed using a lottery system.

When visiting the White House, keep in mind that safety is a top priority. Any items that would be prohibited on an aircraft, such as guns, knives and aerosol cans, cannot be carried on the ground. Bags, strollers and cameras are also prohibited.
