A compactor bin is a large steel trash receptacle with a hydraulic arm that compresses waste to maximize storage space. There are front-loading and top-loading models, and some are designed for recycling. Larger bins can be truck-mounted, and some have steel castor wheels for ease of movement.
A compactor bin is a large trash receptacle that features some sort of compacting mechanism to maximize storage space. The bin is usually made from steel, and while it can vary in size, most models of compactor bin are quite large. Once the rubbish has been loaded inside, a hydraulic arm can be activated to compress the contents, thus freeing up more storage space for more rubbish. The motor of this device is usually electric; it could be draining a battery or it could be plugged into an outlet.
In most cases, only some materials will be loaded into a compactor bin, although some are classified for general waste and various items may be loaded into them. Bins specifically intended for recycling usually only contain recyclable materials such as cardboard, paper, metals and, in some cases, glass. These items can be loaded into the bin and a hydraulic arm can be activated to press the trash towards one end of the bin. When the arm is released, the junk can unzip, but as more junk is added, the arm can be reactivated to free up more space. This can be done until the trash bin reaches its capacity and you can no longer place garbage in it. Once this occurs, a door on the bin must be closed and locked to prevent items from falling out in transit.
There are two general types of compactor container designs: front-loading models and top-loading models. Front-loading models have an opening on the front of the bin, through which waste or other materials can be loaded. A top-loading model also has an opening, but that opening is located at the top of the bin. Some jobs may require one design or another; smaller containers tend to have front-loading openings more often than exceptionally larger containers, although large containers may also have a front-loading opening.
Additional options for a bin compactor are available to make removing and compacting waste much easier. Larger bins are usually truck-mounted, which means that a truck can deliver the bin to a particular location, unload it on site, and return for it once it’s full. A winch system is used to haul the compactor bin onto the truck or lower it to the ground, and steel castor wheels are fitted to the bottom of the bin for ease of movement. Others may be designed to be lifted by a garbage truck equipped with lifting teeth. Such a design is usually reserved for smaller containers.
