Glenn Beck is a conservative talk show host who hosts a successful radio show and news show on Fox News. He has a pro-life stance, believes in the right to bear arms, and is against euthanasia. Beck is a polarizing figure with both ardent fans and passionate detractors. He has become one of the most popular radio hosts in the country and has two New York Times bestsellers.

Glenn Beck is a talk show host with a penchant for outspoken and socially conservative opinions. Often controversial, Beck is a strong opponent of censored speech and political correctness. In addition to a very successful radio show, Beck hosts his own news show called The Glenn Beck Show on Fox News and is also a best-selling author. His writing and delivery style often combines humor and social commentary, although his views are far from universal.

Beck’s radio career began as a local music radio DJ, hosting a variety of styles at nearby radio stations. After leaving high school, he worked his way up the ranks, becoming the youngest morning show host in America at age 18. After many years of moving from station to station amidst personal problems, Glenn Beck began working in talk radio as an anchor on WFLA-AM in Tampa, Florida. His show gained airplay and was picked up by the station’s owner, Clear Channel, for broadcast. The Glenn Beck program now boasts a range of nearly 300 stations.

Though raised a Roman Catholic, Beck eventually joined the Church of Latter-day Saints after a long struggle with drugs and alcohol. He often mentions his religion in his commentary and describes his influence on his life. In 2007, Beck aired an interview with the Rev. Al Sharpton, regarding comments the Rev. made about presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s Mormon faith.

Although Beck espouses a conservative view on many issues, he insists he is not a dogmatic Republican. Preferring not to engage in what many see as an overly divisive two-party political system, Glenn Beck instead focuses on specific issues to resolve. Among his explicit positions are a passionate belief in the right to bear arms and greater security on the American border. Beck also has a pro-life stance and is against euthanasia, but he recently spoke out in favor of the death penalty after a long history of speaking against it.

Glenn Beck is a polarizing media figure, with a great many ardent fans and passionate detractors. His humor in particular is often seen as offensive, insipid, and offensive to a variety of people. There’s little indication that everyone is expected to agree with everything he says, however, and some supporters believe his conservative satire and sarcasm of him are no more offensive than the liberal work of comedians like Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert. Detractors are quick to reply, however, that the comparison is unfair; Stewart and Colbert describe themselves as entertainers rather than authorities or journalists, and their content is meant for laughs first, while Beck is primarily a political commentator.

Like Glenn Beck or despises him, he has become one of the most popular radio hosts in the country. His books have consistently sold well, with two publications reaching the New York Times bestseller list. Conservative-minded people will probably appreciate the wit and passion Beck brings to his broadcasts. On the other hand, those who find themselves not remotely conservative in opinion but enjoy political satire and speaking on the radio may find that the occasional listen to his work can provide a refreshing point of view.
